Biodiesel is a healthier choice for the environment, keeps money and jobs in Oregon, and even increases engine life! Flower Power Biodiesel now offers Salem a sustainable fuel source for around the same price as Diesel.

The Flower Power Biodiesel Co-op fuel hut is built entirely from materials salvaged onsite, including the plywood, insulation and 2x4's.

The hut interior is heated by a single 100-watt light bulb, which keeps the ambient air temperature above 50 degrees in sub-zero temperatures. It is custom built around our 250-gallon tank and containment tub.

We use B99 year-round, and the shack allows members the flexibility to use B99 when they want to. When temperatures drop below 40, members splash in half or 3/4's tank of B99 on top of standard petrol-diesel; otherwise, they continue to use B99 throughout the winter.

The fuel hut is on the Pringle Creek site, located off Fairview Industrial Dr.

What members are saying...

"My truck is a 1997 Ford F350. It used to smoke a little when it was cold. Now after having run a few tankfulls of B99 it doesn't smoke at all. And I haven't notice any difference in power or mileage. I feel good knowing that I'm making a little bit of a difference, and the exhaust doesn't stink any more either!" -- Lowell

"I purchased my Jetta TDI for its biodiesel capabilities. I live in Portland and often work at my family's farm here in Salem and in Eastern Oregon. The huge percentage of particulate reduction and carbon emissions from burning biodiesel are the main reason I choose this fuel for my car. My Jetta is running smoothly and required no conversion. Some day I hope to convert it to run straight waste vegetable oil (SVO) by far one of the most sustainable fuels available. Come join the co-op and help us pursue new projects!!" -- Elizabeth
